International week - Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
Our Bachelor of Early Childhood Education is delighted and proud to invite you to our fifth international week from 29 May - 2 June 2017 in Ghent.
The theme of this week is ‘Global Citizenship’: how can we educate students to have an open mind, a warm heart and helping hands? How can we convince them to take responsibility and act upon it? How can we bring themes as climate change, peace, migration, democracy, sustainability, citizenship, solidarity … into their world? And how can we give them tools and skills to pass on these attitudes and skills to the children and adults surrounding them?
This theme connects the different participants regardless of the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) policy in their country (split or integrated system, connected to welfare or education …) and was chosen by the participants of last year’s edition as a central challenge for bachelor programmes concerning ECEC.
Based on last year’s feedback, we will start together on Monday with an introduction and an inspiring keynote with a truly 'global' perspective. In the introduction we will get to know each other and our institutions, so we hope to start with all participants present. We will end on Friday morning with our international exhibition. Students will share the insights and inspiration from their exploration of ECEC at your institution or in other European cities. A heartwarming closure!
