Norse exchange student Per Christian Eggen Mjøs wins Ghent Marathon

This Sunday, around 5,000 sports enthusiasts participated in the third edition of the Pauwels Consulting Ghent Marathon. Among them: Per Christian Eggen Mjøs, a Norse exchange student at Artevelde University of Applied Sciences. He finished and won the 42 km in an impressive 2 hours, 36 minutes and 59 seconds.

About 5,000 participants kicked off the third edition of the Ghent Marathon on Sunday 27 October 2019 at Blaarmeersen, a sports and recreation domain in Ghent. Runners got to choose between three trails: either they ran the full 42 km marathon or they opted for a shorter 10 or 5 km track.

No other than Per Christian Eggen Mjøs, an exchange student at Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, won the full marathon. Per Christian is currently enrolled in our Artevelde Business School, a semester programme for students who are interested in intercultural business management. Per Christian ran the 42K in only 2 hours, 36 minutes and 59 seconds. He was accompanied on stage by Sven Maes (2nd place) and Sebastian Mahia (3rd place).

This third edition of Ghent Marathon will be the last edition to take place in autumn. From 2020 onwards, the Ghent Marathon will be organised during springtime. A renewed track will take runners through the art-historical city centre of Ghent. You can already register for the fourth edition of the Ghent Marathon via www.sport.be/marathonvangent.
